A Note from Joseph:

Since my family moved to the City of Edmonds over a decade ago, I have realized that this community is one of the best places to live. Since relocating here, the United States has been a blessing to me, and Edmonds has been part of that success story.

We cannot deny that the unprecedented inflation sweeping across the entire global system has also impacted our community’s economy– Edmonds is not exempt from the impact of economic challenges.

I am running for the City Council to bring innovative and bold ideas to help solve our city’s most pressing issues. I hope this will lead to economic leverage and sustainability, which our city has been striving for. In addition to economic development, I am passionate about environmental protection, housing affordability, and maintaining the safety and security of our community.

We should urgently work to attract new businesses, particularly along Highway 99, Edmonds Way, and the new hubs and centers. It is imperative to ensure that these potential new businesses are enticed with tax incentives. I want to work with city staff, volunteers, and current business owners to provide support and collaborate on new ways to increase our economic security. Implementing these economic development strategies will lead to revenue growth for our city and can help resolve its financial obligations.

With an environmentally friendly community, we have rare beauty here in Edmonds, such as our watersheds, trees, marsh, waterfront, and more. We can plan smartly to maintain many of our green spaces, protect our environment, save our old-growth trees, and work to build more parks and playgrounds across our city. I am committed to working on all of these treasures for all of us.

Our safety and security should always be non-negotiable as a community. My experience working in the safety and security field has allowed me to see how valuable and significant our well-being is. I aim to ensure the City of Edmonds remains a safe, low crime rate, vibrant, and thriving community where people desire to live.

Safety means feeling like you can walk, drive, bike, or get around in other ways without worrying about someone who is speeding or a distracted driver. This means that we should revitalize the south part of Highway 99 and find new ways to bring the community together, since doing those things will decrease the rate of retail theft there. We need to raise revenue through diverse sources to rebuild and support our police officers and human services staff, as well as support residents who want us to lower the theft rate, break-ins, and vandalism.

I believe in perseverance, dedication, discipline, integrity, and teamwork. I will not shy away from confronting complex challenges to accomplish the task, and I am committed to bringing these values as a City Councilmember. I would appreciate your support and vote!
