Joseph Ademofe
Joseph’s dedication as a father, husband, and active community member demonstrates his care and love for Edmonds. I do not doubt that his unique perspective as a security professional, father of public school students, and immigrant will serve the Edmonds City Council well and help to create a more inclusive and thriving city.
I am Joseph Ademofe, a Nigerian American, born and raised in Nigeria. I migrated from Europe, specifically Greece, to the United States in December 2008. I began my academic journey in January of 2009 from “scratch.” In the Winter of January 2009, I registered for the General Educational Development (GED) and English as a Second Language (ESL) programs. After taking ESL for two quarters and obtaining my GED credits in 2009 at Shoreline Community College, I was eligible to take college classes the same year.
I graduated with an Associate of Arts (AA) degree from Shoreline Community College in 2012. Following graduation, I transferred to a four-year college, The Evergreen State College, in 2012 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Political Science. I earned my Master of Arts (MA) in International Studies from the University of Washington in 2024.
Since settling in Edmonds with my family in 2014, I have worked for Homeland Security and proudly coached soccer at the high school and community college levels, where I served as the head coach. I am currently a Lead Public Safety Personnel at the University of Washington. In addition to coaching and serving as a Public Safety Personnel, I am a DEIA Commissioner for the City of Edmonds. This position has been paused due to the fiscal crisis.
As a family man with kids attending Edmonds Public Schools, my family and I are grateful to reside in such a pleasant environment. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and enjoying all of the beautiful public spaces Edmonds offers.
